Included in the new monthly payments is an increase in rent ($20 for efficiencies, $22 for one-bedroom units and $11 for two-bedroom units) and an increase, from $10 this year to $15, in the cost of voice/data services provided by the University. The total cost of University voice/data services next year is $31 per unit per month, $16 of which will be paid by the University to the service provider, UM's Office of Information Technology. This is part of a continuing Division of Studnet Affairs program to phase in these costs to residents over a period of five years.

Residents of the Graduate Hills and Graduate Gardens communities will be invited to attend an information session on these increases. Date, time and location will be reported to you next week.

Comments also may be submitted to the President of the Graduate Student Government (gsg-president@umd.edu) and/or by reply to jdavidso@umd.edu or by calling my office at (301) 314-7343.

Sincerely,
