Along with the launch of the online Event Funding Request system are several other improvements. Most importantly is the full introduction of the student login and suggestion pages. There are also plans to improve the ability to share links, show Graduate Student Spotlights, and improve the GRID interface in preparation for GRID 2010.

The GSG Webmaster, in coordination with the Budget & Finance Committee and the Chief of Staff, has developed an online Event Funding Request (EFR) system to help streamline the EFR funding process and to maintain a better record of funding decisions.

"The first draft of the university's new Diversity Strategic Plan is far from perfect, university officials admitted.
After an initial draft was released Thursday, students charged the plan with being too vague, lofty and dismissive of certain underrepresented populations, including graduate students, international students and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, among others." The Stamp Advisory Board is accepting applications for new members. The SAB advises The Stamp's Director on all matters affecting the Adele H. Stamp Student Union - Center for Campus Life. Meetings are every other week. Applications and more information are available online. Applications are due Friday, Nov. 20, no later than 4:00pm.

At the last meeting, the Assembly heard from Gene Ferrick, a member of the Diversity Plan Steering Committee, and Joanna Calabrese and Bob Hayes, representing the Student Government Association and the campaign to 'Save the Wooded Hillock.'

The Diversity Plan will be presented at the "Moving Diversity Forward" Town Hall meeting on October 27, 2009. To prepare for the event the Diversity Committee of the GSG is soliciting feedback on the draft (which should be available here on the 20th), and your opinions regarding the role graduate students should play.

The Graduate Student Affairs Committee (GSAC) of the GSG is gathering your tax questions about the special situation that graduate students are in. If you have had trouble filling out your state or federal tax returns, or just have general questions, the GSG will try to help! Once some questions are gathered, the Committee will attempt to compile a list of answers and post them online. To submit your question, please contact Anne Jorstad, member of the GSAC, at jorstad [at] math [dot] umd [dot] edu by the end of October.

The Department of Transportation Services will operate a shuttle service to the Baltimore/Washington International Airport on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 29 for Thanksgiving Break.
