Gene Ferrick, a member of the Diversity Plan Steering Committee, talked to the Assembly about the plan and took feedback. Anupama Kothari, GSG Presdient, expressed concern that consideration of Graduate Students in the Steering Committee's recommendations were scant and underdeveloped. Mr. Ferrick recommended that GSG and other graduate student groups be represented at the Diversity Plan 'Town Hall' meeting on October 27. A rough draft of the Diversity Plan should be distributed to the campus on or after October 20.

To coordinate the effort of gathering feedback, the GSG Diversity Committee is asking for comments to be sent to them. See this article for more information.

Joanna Calabrese and Bob Hayes, representing the Student Government Association and the campaign to 'Save the Wooded Hillock,' spoke about the University's plan to develop an area of ecologically unique woodland on the edge of campus. The Assembly overwhelmingly agreed that such an action would be short-sighted and would conflict with the University's stated intent to be a 'Green University.' The Assembly calls on the University to halt these development plans.

The Assembly passed all legislation on the agenda:

  • GSGA29-R4: A Resolution Calling for a Halt to the University's Plan to Development to the Wooded Hillock
  • GSGA29-R3: A Resolution Establishing an Ad Hoc Committee to Plan GRID 2010
  • GSGA29-A1: Election Modification Act
