The Graduate Assistant in the Undergraduate Student Legal Aid Office serves as the supervisor of the Student Defender Program. The Student Defender Program at the University of Maryland provides advice and assistance at campus judicial board hearings to students who have been accused of violating the university's Code of Academic Integrity, Code of Student Conduct, and/or Rights & Responsibilities. Applicants for the GA position are not required to have a legal background; however attention to detail, problem solving, strong oral and written communication skills, and an amiable personality are necessary. The position is a 12-month assistantship, and requires 20 hours/week.
