Committees

GSG Committees are responsible for carrying out much of the day-to-day work of the GSG, since they can consider business in more detail than is possible in a single monthly meeting. Committees are now forming and they are a great way to get involved! If you are interested in a particular committee, please contact our Vice President for Committee Affairs at gsg-vpca [at] umd.edu.

Academic Affairs Committee

The Academic Affairs committee reviews University and Grad School policies and develops GSG proposals on issues pertaining to the academic and professional development of graduate students. It also assists with the execution and management of GRID. More about:Academic Affairs Committee

Budget and Finance Committee

The Budget and Finance Committee reviews student requests for GSG funding More about:Budget and Finance Committee

Diversity Committee

The Diversity Committee reaches out to cultural groups across campus in order to build stronger ties throughout the graduate student community and works to promote diversity within the GSG. More about:Diversity Committee

Elections Committee

The Elections Committee supervises yearly GSG Executive Elections. The EC is in charge of setting up, assisting to generate interest in, and helping to facilitate GSG executive board elections. More about:Elections Committee

Governance Committee

The Governance Committee presides over elections disputes, impeachment proceedings, and is the highest authority in the GSG concerning all matters of interpretation of the GSG Constitution, Bylaws, Executive Orders, and all other statutes. More about:Governance Committee

Graduate Student Affairs Committee

The Graduate Student Affairs Committee considers issues such as stipends, housing, benefits, unionization, and transportation. More about:Graduate Student Affairs Committee

Legislative Action Committee

The Legislative Action Committee ensures that UMCP graduate students are in the minds of decision makers on a University, local, and state level and asssists in the communication process. More about:Legislative Action Committee

Social and Sport Committee

The Social and Sport Committee manages graduate student programming, sports policies, and petitions for recreation services to reflect the needs of a diverse graduate student body. More about:Social and Sport Committee

Ways and Means Committee

The Ways and Means Committee (WAM) decides the agenda of the monthly GSG meeting. This includes all legislation or other items to appear, their order, and any appropriate time limits. More about:Ways and Means Committee
