Multiscale image decomposition: From heat equation to a novel integro-differential equation

We are surrounded by images all the time. One of the tools to understand images, and the way we understand them is multiscale image decomposition. This topic has attracted experts from various fields, ranging from biology, computer science, mathematics etc. in recent year.

Since the 80's various models have been proposed for a multiscale decomposition. I will review various models like heat equation, Perona Malik, Tadmor-Nezzar-Vese model. Here I will propose 'a novel integro differential model', and establish how it is related to other models.
